Completion of the Greenway Tech Centre renovations in 2007 was the culmination of a 10-year, $20 million revitalization of the southeast York neighborhood by the Crispus Attucks Association. The entrance to the city from the south had been neglected for many years and was in severe need of reclamation and beautification. With funding from Pennsylvania, the Federal government, and various other sources, we were able to add the renovation of the former cigar factory to the list of neighborhood improvements achieved. The Loretta Claiborne Building, the Himes Motor Car Building (now owned by Junior Achievement), and the Greenway Tech Centre are all Crispus Attucks Association projects that helped to bring new business to the city and rejuvenate the southeast York neighborhood.
The Crispus Attucks Association is committed to ongoing improvement of York City and specifically the southeast neighborhood. We continually improve the neighborhood by providing quality, affordable housing for low income residents, attracting new businesses, revitalizing historic properties, and providing opportunities for residents to improve their lives in York.
